Personal Sketches

Character work. A spin off from the previous aircraft contraptions. Roughly based from pilots in the forties era (Biggles etc). A bit more realistic compared to the previous smaller figures. If I continue with this figure I would like to sketch out some dynamic poses to illustrate more of the character. This is something I don't do enough of. Faces and hands I need to work on too. tsk.

Personal sketches

I like the previous sketch of the aircraft I did. I've continued with it showing the back. No great idea behind the theme - just a personal fan on tech. I've added gyroscopes to give it some functionality and credibility. This part I like - you can chip away at it and take it from a thought to a convincing drawing on paper.

Personal Sketches

Once again these sketches are fancy free doodles during working hours. It's my attempt at capturing any whim regardless how fleeting and make something of it. Without being too precious either. The subject might become a regular in the drawings but the plan is not to feel the need to change. At the moment it consists of the familiar war hero with padded armour and added gadgets etc. If one particular sketch keeps my eye I might continue with it and add more to the subject. If I promise myself to invest a bit more time and effort I shall add colour.

Personal sketches

The mech design on the right is an attempt at combining the far fetched with a familiar commercial product. My current thoughts on this are to create a mech that feels like a mountain bike product. Associated with extreme sports culture/skateboarding. The character on the left is an idea I've had for a while. Inspired by a sculpture in Venice - resting lion on steps with eagle wings. This sculpture had such presence and conveyed power/confidence. I've tried to create an urban street vibe version.

Concept doodles

Rough scans from marker pad. Two characters - a typical hard nut hero. Like the shape and proportions. Probably go back to character and continue with it sometime. The 2nd character is a female soldier/warrior with metal arms (talon things). Tough type grundgy female character. A familiar theme but fun all the same.
